Ohio Supreme Court Argument – Bruns v. Green
By Emmett E. Robinson | April 7, 2020
Today, due to the coronavirus pandemic, I had the unusual experience of arguing before the Ohio Supreme Court via videoconference. Argument was broadcast via the Ohio Channel. The argument can be watched here (forgive the sometimes-less-than-ideal video and audio feeds):
My argument–for appellee–begins at roughly the 11:15 mark.
The case addresses an important statutory interpretation issue in the child custody context: Whether terminating a shared parenting plan, under which both parents share legal and physical custody of their child, requires only that a court decide that terminating the plan is in the child’s best interest or, rather, whether the court must also conclude that a “change in circumstances” has also occurred.
